DISH values all of our customers and we want to make sure that everyone has the best possible entertainment experience. That’s why we offer a number of accessible features in our top receivers.
DISH offers a number of settings to make our products more accessible for customers who are visually or hearing impaired. Audio Description and Closed Captioning are available on all DISH receivers. Text to Speech, Screen Magnification, and Bluetooth Audio are available on the Hopper 3, Hopper with Sling, Hopper Duo, and Wally.
If you require an accessible solution or need help activating a solution on the receivers listed above, please call us at 800-333-DISH (800-333-3474). If you’re not sure if you already have one of these receivers, visit the Receiver Overviews page for help identifying your receiver model.
See how to activate these features on your receiver.
The Text to Speech setting provides an audible readout of the Guide and other Menu screens when enabled. This feature can help blind or visually impaired users choose programming and configure options on the Hopper.
Screen magnification enlarges the size of the text or graphics which are presented on screen to help viewers read the Guide or other Menu screens on the Hopper.
Audio Description, also referred to as video description, described video, or Secondary Audio Programming, allows programs with narrative tracks to play when available.
Audio Description is audio-narrated descriptions of a program’s key visual elements. These descriptions are inserted into natural pauses in the program’s dialogue. Audio Description makes TV programming more accessible to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
The Bluetooth Audio feature allows users to sync their hearing aids using a Wireless Transmitter to their Hopper receiver, for a clearer, easier listening experience.
TV Closed Captioning displays the audio portion of a TV program as text on the TV screen.
