We love sports, sports fans, and Altitude.

Today (2/26), Altitude – the television home to the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche – accused DISH of not negotiating in good faith as the two parties have sought to renew a carriage contract that expired last August.

We are a Denver-based company – home to proud fans of both the Nuggets and the Avalanche. The claim that we are not negotiating in good faith is untrue. We have made multiple proposals that are fair to Altitude, Colorado sports fans, and the overwhelming majority of our customers who don’t watch Altitude.

At issue is Altitude’s steadfast requirement that the majority of our customers pay for Altitude, even though the vast majority of our customers don’t watch Altitude.

We have offered Altitude a variety of creative solutions to fix this – all have been rejected. The last proposal we made, delivered in October, has been greeted with silence.

Here’s our offer:

  • We’ll launch Altitude TV on DISH within 24 hours. We’ll also launch it shortly thereafter on our streaming service, Sling TV.
  • Altitude tells DISH what price to charge fans. Customers get to choose if they want to pay for and receive the games. We’ll cover the operational costs.
  • 100 percent of the revenue goes to Altitude.
  • This is a fair deal. Fans get the best television experience available on DISH or Sling TV at a price set by Altitude. Customers who don’t watch it won’t have to pay for it.

DISH strives to provide our customers with the best TV experience at the best possible value.

We urge Altitude to work with us to reach a logical, long-term agreement on behalf of our mutual viewers. We are hopeful and open to a fair agreement to bring Altitude back as quickly as possible.
