What Is Happening?

A black, blue or snowy screen or “No Signal” message is displaying.

black, blue, snowy/static screen, or 'No Signal' message

Why Is It Happening?

This issue is typically caused by the TV being on the wrong input or incorrectly connected cables.

How Do I Fix It?

Hi, I’m Ryan. If you see a black, blue, or snowy screen, or a “no signal” message on your TV, then this video is for you. If you see something else, check out our other support videos on YouTube or mydish.com for assistance.

To begin, look at the front of your DISH receiver. If there is no green light, make sure the receiver is plugged in, and then press the Power button on the front panel. Your TV should also be powered on.

Next, determine if the channel guide will display by pressing the SAT button, followed by Guide button on your DISH remote. The SAT button may be on the side of your remote or along the top, depending on your model. If the guide appears, check out this video for more help.

If the guide doesn’t appear, check to make sure your video cable is securely connected to both your TV and your receiver.

Next, set your TV to the correct input by pressing the Input or Source button on your original TV remote or on the TV itself. Press this button repeatedly, pausing for five seconds between each press to see if anything appears onscreen. Once you find the correct input, write it down for so you can easily get back to it in the future.

If the problem remains, a simple power reset will fix most technical issues.

To perform a power reset, unplug the receiver from the power outlet for 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. The power cord usually has a red tag, so you can easily identify it.

If you are still experiencing an issue, please chat with us online at mydish.com/chat or call us at 1-800-333-3474. Together, we’ll get you back to enjoying your favorite shows in no time.
