What Is Happening?

A "Programming Not Authorized" error is displaying (005, 013, or 014).


Why Is It Happening?

This problem is typically caused by out-of-date information in the DISH receiver or a receiver error.


How Do I Fix It?


Hi, I’m Nadine. If you see code 005, 013, or 014 in the popup located along the upper-right corner of your screen, it means that your DISH receiver does not recognize the channel you’re trying to watch.

Let’s get troubleshooting!

First, ensure that the channel you are trying to tune in to is included in your programming package.

You can do this by viewing your customized channel lineup in the MyDISH app. If desired, you can make changes to your programming directly in the app.

If you recently changed your subscription or added new programming, please keep in mind that new channels can take up to 15 minutes to appear.

If the problem remains, a simple power reset will fix most technical issues. To perform a power reset, unplug the receiver from the power outlet for 10 seconds, and then plug it back in. The power cord usually has a red tag on it, so you can easily identify it. If you’re unable to easily reach your power cord, press the reset button on the front of the receiver, or hold down the power button for 10 seconds.

It’s also a good idea to confirm that the wiring from your Hopper to the wall is connected properly.

Resolve this issue by completing all the steps below:

  1. Reset your DISH receiver

    Unplug the power cord of your DISH receiver (typically has a red tag) from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

    If you have a Hopper & Joey system, unplug the power cord of the Hopper (larger receiver).

    The reset process may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
